PROCRASTINATION

procrastinationThe king of “bad” habits is procrastination.  Procrastination is the “failure to act.” Action is everything.  You can do, be and have practically anything you want in life IF you will just stop procrastinating and DO what it takes to get where you want to go”

So what is it that helps you get motivated.  Maybe the big things in life like money, food, vacation, or a holiday.  But what about the little things like weight loss, exercise, getting a massage or a  Cranio sacral therapy session.  If you suffer from anxiety, panic or depression then procrastination becomes a way of life. This was my life but I am continuing to learn how to improve.

When I began to set goals to be healthy, and I started to really focus and work on it, my procrastination in other areas of my life decreased because I felt good.  Come on, it’s the beginning of a NEW YEAR.  GET HEALTHY with good food so you can accomplish what you want to.  The only way you can get rid of a bad habit is to replace it with a good one.

massage in laborSome massage therapists use aromatherapy oils during a massage session.  There are some essential oils that are beneficial during pregnancy.  Many can help relieve anxiety and tension while others are used to help relieve bloating and headaches.  Here is a list of essential oils that may be helpful during pregnancy: Tangerine, Lemon, TeaTree, Ylang-ylang and Mandarin.

These essential oils should be avoided during pregnancy for their contraction stimulating properties: Arnica, Clary sage, Fennel, Jasmine and Juniper.  This list is by no means comprehensive but if you have any concerns just stick to a massage session without the use of aromatic oils. Either way you’re bound to find the experience relaxing and stress relieving!

At Salt Lake City prenatal massage you can ask questions and receive the care that you deserve.

Dessert - Gotta Love It!

holiday weightWell, it is the day after Christmas and all through the house, is left over chocolate and desserts strewn about!  Yes, it has been a wonderful Holiday season, and I think my blood vessels are pushing through pure chocolate, with all that I have been eating.  It is definitely time for a change.  I liked this quote by Jack LaLanne and as I follow his advise, it will help me to get OFF of the junkie desserts and back to my health and wellness program of  appropriate eating within the week.

Today it will be enough to eat one piece of fresh fruit instead of ice cream or pie. Try a cookie; there are many cookies on the market sweetened with fruit juice instead of sugar. Try a little grated apple with lemon juice or a mashed banana for dessert. Simply mash a banana with a fork until it looks like a pudding, mix in a little lemon juice, and put it in a dessert dish with a fresh strawberry on top and voila!, you have a gourmet dessert.  Jack LaLanne - Revitalize Your Life After 50

massage in labor 2Prenatal massage is gaining popularity as pregnant women begin to recognize the benefits it has to offer.  Back pain is one of the more common side effects of pregnancy.  Fortunately massage can help relieve back pain that may be associated with muscular stress and tension.

Prenatal massage also helps relieve edema or swelling by stimulating the circulation throughout the body.  Massage on the legs can help reduce cramps and swelling in the legs.  It can help to reduce anxiety during pregnancy, and help promote more restful sleep.  Pregnancy massage may relax your baby also, particularly if you have your abdomen gently stroked.

Generalized anxiety disorderEvery disease or condition gives off its own specific frequency and other frequencies that trigger tissue repair. Specific healing effects have been found at specific frequencies, and have been identified. Just as there are healing frequencies, there are damaging effects of specific frequencies.” Some of these damaging frequencies are found with electricity—cell phones, televisions and computers, clock radios next to beds, … Avoid them or distance yourself from them as much as possible.  Stan M. Gardner, MD - Energy Medicine: The Medicine of the Future—Right NOW

At Salt Lake City cranio sacral therapy I assist my clients in finding the thought patterns, injuries and emotions that create a frequency that keeps them from accomplishing or feeling like they want to.  As these  frequencies are corrected, their lives improve.

MUSIC FOR HEALING

healing musicMusic has been an essential part of my healing over the years.  I have suffered many years with anxiety and panic, ill health, and a lousy attitude.  As I have gone through the many steps of healing, music has been a huge part of my program.

Sometimes I use musical selections with words that help to keep my mind off of my troubles and on possitive thoughts.  Other times the words seem to be too much for me so I use selections with only music.  I have noticed sometimes that certain instruments such as a violyn soothes my nerves, and at other times it makes me nervous.  So I have collected a very large variety so I have pick and choose what I need in the moment.

Things to avoid during massage

massageAs enjoyable, relaxing, and healthy as massage is, it’s not always the best thing to do.   Despite its healing and calming properties, certain conditions are contraindicated for massage.

The massage therapist should move slow and if you are in pain, you should ask the therapist to either lighten up their touch, or stop.  You should not get on the massage table until an hour after you have eaten.  If you have visible wounds such as cuts, bruises, lesions, boils, rashes, eczema and any other skin condition, massage in those areas should be avoided.Other conditions such as pregnancy and menstruation require the masseuse to proceed with caution and you should not receive massage on the abdomen.  Salt Lake Massage Therapy can be very helpful if you have any questions at all.

Anxiety

panicAnxiety is a very unique challenge.  When you are suffering, do not compare yourself to others.  Know that you will come out of it and you can build up your confidence again.   There is NO failure when you keep trying.  I know personally how hard it can be, but I also know there is hope, but it takes time and effort.

On many occasions I did give up hope, thinking that I would never get better.  Please DO NOT fall into that trap.   I found many different things that helped me to get well.   I had improved a lot by the time I found a book called “THE PANIC AWAY PROGRAM”.  It was written by Joe Barry and many of the suggestions he had in his book were things I had already done with great success.  But he adds a new twist to overcoming anxiety and panic that I had never thought of.  I used his technique and it was wonderful.  It is not an overnight cure, but with persistence, you can overcome these intense emotions.

sports massage
Sports massage is designed to help athletes or anyone else prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event or unjury, or function well during training or just regular exercise.  Sports massage is also good to help people recover from injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion.
There are four types of sports massages:
-Pre-event sports massage, a short massage to help stimulate the parts of tlhe body that will be involved in the exertion.
-Post-event sports massage given within an hour or two of the event, to help normalize the body’s tissues.
-Restorative sports massage given during training to allow the athlete to train harder and with less injury.
-Rehabilitative sports massage focused on alleviating pain due to injury and returning the body to health.
Salt Lake City full body massage has excellent information and training to assist in helping you feel better.
