I was born in the small town of Tooele, Utah. I am the 2nd of 7 children with one older sister, then my only brother, and 4 younger sisters. We moved to Rose Park which is northwest of Salt Lake City and when I was 4 years old we moved to East Mill Creek, in the south part of Salt Lake. I grew up in the same home that my Mom grew up in from the time she was 12 years old. I graduated from Skyline High school in 1969 then attended Continental Beauty College. I later served a mission for my church, in the Alabama-Florida mission from 1973 to 74. Met my wonderful husband 6 days after I returned home and was married January 1975. We have been married 33 years and have raised 5 wonderful sons and 1 daughter. We now have 4 beautiful daughters-in-law and 7 gorgeous grandchildren. During the years of raising children I continued my education by attending Myotherapy Massage College. I am a licensed Massage Therapist and my entire business is centered around CranioSacral Therapy. I have worked with people with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual problems for about 21 years and as I have worked with them I have found more information and product that has assisted in my own healing.
During my entire life I have struggled with poor health and I was in terrible pain because of an accident. The doctors told me that I would be in pain for the rest of my life. I couldn’t use a lot of pain medications because most medications create very negative results on my body and mind. I have had doctors look at me like I’m crazy when I try to explain that I need to be treated differently than most people when it comes to “conventional” medicine because my body doesn’t react the same as others.
I have always hated statistics because I’m usually on the low end of the results. My body IS a statistic when we are all lumped together to find out if something works (with good results) but I’m afraid that I usually end up at the bottom of the list with little or NO good results, and the doctors don’t want to listen when I explain that I AM DIFFERENT.
So, I decided to begin a blog on health and wellness to see if I could reach some of the people who are like me to find some alternatives and additions to health problems. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I am still looking. I know that there is NOT a one size fits all answer because we are all so different and unique.
I fully believe in the medical profession, but I don’t believe that I have to do everything the way they prescribe. I need them for information, but I also need time to make appropriate decisions for myself. I encourage my clients to go visit their Doctors, but I also encourage them to think for themselves after they receive ALL the information and make their OWN decisions, without being bullied.
I also believe in Holistic health care and I firmly believe that they can work hand in hand.
So, here I am, sharing information with the intent to trigger ideas and to educate. I am NOT doing this to diagnose or try to keep anyone from the appropriate health care.
I would like to share ideas, products, or information that will help us all, including myself because I will always be learning. I hope to learn a lot more as people respond to what is shared.
Sincerely, Joyce South
